Although the basic principles of distillation remain the same, Arabic style stills have been adapted and modernized over the centuries. In the contemporary context, they are used to:
- Production of Alcoholic Beverages: The distillation of spirits such as brandy, especially in regions where distillation maintains traditional methods.
- Essential Oil Extraction: The distillation of plants and flowers to produce oils used in aromatherapy, cosmetics and medicine.
- Creation of Hydrolates: Aromatic waters that contain the soluble components of distilled plants, such as rose water and other herbal infusions.
